Second Amendment Blog Bash

For all of you pro-Second Amendment publishers, we now have t-shirts available.

Any pro-gun writer should want one to wear at the NRA Meeting so attendees in the exhibit hall know you are media who is on their side.

If you’ve always wanted to talk to brag about your blog, but found you couldn’t quite bring yourself to shameless self-promotion, then use one of these attention getting t-shirts to grab their interest and start the conversation.

All designs are available in brown, navy, and grey, as well as many other colors. Non-Bash specific designs will be available soon, and we’re always on the look out for new slogans and design ideas.

The Holiday Inn Express Downtown is a short walk to the Great Phoenix Convention Center, and rooms will go quickly as more than 50,000 NRA members begin making their plans to join in the festivities.

If you have already reserved a room at the Holiday Inn Express, but did not know about the room block or reserved online without a group designation, please email the name your room is registered under to organizer - at - 2ABlogBash - dot - com, and we will get you added to the block. (If you secured a lower room rate, that rate will be honored.)

The official room block for the Second Amendment Blog Bash is now open!

The Holiday Inn Express Phoenix Downtown is offering bloggers discount rates for their stay in Phoenix next May. Unlike the NRA room block of the same rate, the Blog Bash rooms will guarantee you space near all of those other bloggers you’ve been dying to meet or can’t wait to see again.

King and Double rooms are available Thursday, May 14 through Monday, May 18 for only $139/night.  Double Queen + Sofa Bed suites are also available for $149, allowing three roommates to stay for as low at $50/night each, plus tax.  (Please note that if you choose to reserve a suite, do so early as only Single & Double rooms are guaranteed in the room block.)

The room block will close on April 20, 2009 at 5pm MST. However, I expect the rooms to sell out long before the deadline. If it does sell out, the hotel will continue to accept reservations and add you to our group as long as there is space available. However, with the hotel being just blocks from the Convention Center and 50,000+ expected to descend on Phoenix, rooms will go quickly.

If you want to stay with other bloggers only blocks from the convention center, take advantage of this opportunity before the hotel sells out of rooms and the room block fills.

You can cancel up to 24-hours in advance, so there is little risk in making your reservation early.

I’ve added a poll to find out how many people who are likely coming to the Phoenix event are interested in a room block at a local hotel.

I’ve been doing research on hotels in the area.  Considering typical budgets, distance from the main event location, and amenities, I think I found a winner.  There are reasonable options for those looking for roommates and competitive rates for single rooms, too.

With that in mind, would those of you who think you’ll try and go be interested in taking part in a room block opening later this year for early reservations?

In addition, at least two hotels are now taking reservations for visitors in Phoenix. Many more will no doubt be added to the system as we get closer to 2009. However, for those interested, you can reserve a room now and cancel later.

You’re also welcome to make reservations on your own. It appears many of the major travel reservation websites are not yet accepting reservations this far out yet. Many folks found great deals at other hotels in the area in Louisville, and you’re by no means required to use the NRA reservation system.
