Only about one-third of the Second Amendment Blog Bash participants attended the first new media event last year or have been to previous NRA Annual Meetings. In an effort to pass on the wisdom of the ages, here are tips collected from a few of last year’s Blog Bash alumni:
- Don’t forget to bring plenty of batteries for your digital media devices.
- Comfortable walking shoes are a must if you plan to take to the Exhibit Hall floor.
- Take advantage of press kits in the press office to learn what companies have done lately or to get background information about products.
- Bring handouts to promote your blog, forum, or podcast.
- Keep your hangover cures handy if you plan to drink. You don’t want to miss a great morning event because of a headache.
- Bring a backpack or other bag for walking the floor because handouts from vendors add up. If you plan to use these materials at home, leave room in your luggage or mail a box back.
- Consider bringing a portable chair or camp stool if you think you’ll need to take breaks on the floor – or stake out places to take a rest.
- Bring your own water or snacks to save money. Plenty of food vendors will be available, but you might save a few dollars with a bottle of water or soda and a snack of your own.
- Follow the Blog Bash Twitter account (@2ABlogBash) via your mobile phone during the weekend to get last minute news and event updates.
