Advice from Locals for Out-of-Town Attendees
Posted on May 1, 2009 in Phoenix
Two-thirds of this year’s Second Amendment Blog Bash participants are traveling to Arizona for the NRA Annual Meeting. In an effort to pass on the wisdom of the locals, here are tips collected from a few of the Phoenix area attendees:
- Leave your sweaters at home. It may not be summer where you are, but it is in Phoenix. According to The Weather Channel, the average high for the month of May is 94 degrees. The record high in the month of May was 114.
- If you would like to purchase adult beverages for off premises consumption, grocery stores and convenience stores can carry everything.
- Many of the unique tourist opportunities around here aren’t in Phoenix itself.
- There are many great dining options around Phoenix, including several downtown.
- Bring sunscreen and a hat unless you plan on staying indoors all day.
- Bring comfortable shoes if you plan to walk to and from the convention center from the Blog Bash hotels. They are within walking distance, but by the end of the weekend, your feet will likely be tired.
- If you are staying downtown, you will not need to rent a car, as all Blog Bash events are within a six-block area.

Do we have a post on the local relevant gun laws for the area? Links to info on… carry, reciprocity, minutia of laws, etc.
Yup! Kevin from Exurban League posted one.
Hi Bitter,
We’ve decided to do what we can to help out as well. We’ve created an attraction finder to help blog bash attendees during their visit:

Since we’re both AZ natives, we’re happy to play concierge to anyone who needs assistance, just let us know what you are looking for.
