Interested in a Room Block?

I’ve added a poll to find out how many people who are likely coming to the Phoenix event are interested in a room block at a local hotel.

I’ve been doing research on hotels in the area.  Considering typical budgets, distance from the main event location, and amenities, I think I found a winner.  There are reasonable options for those looking for roommates and competitive rates for single rooms, too.

With that in mind, would those of you who think you’ll try and go be interested in taking part in a room block opening later this year for early reservations?

A room block is a great idea.

Well, only if there are smoking rooms available, otherwise….. :)

For the record, I’m the only one who has voted NO so far, and that’s only because I’ve got family in the area that I’d likely stay with. I found only a minimal number of the bloggers “freak-ish” and that didn’t affect my vote. Much.

Arizona is pretty much smoke-free. You can smoke in the parking lot, 25′ from any door or window. But I don’t think you’re going to find a hotel or motel that allows smoking in the room in Phoenix.

I have family in Phoenix, too, plus I live in Tucson - about an hour and a half South of the Convention Center, but yes, I think I’d like to stay in a hotel with the other bloggers. To be honest, I want to go to the BlogBash to hang around with those of like mind. That means (at least in Louisville) pretty late nights. Not having to navigate back to Tucson or to my brother’s house at O-Dark-thirty in the AM is a GOOD thing.

So yes, Bitter. I think a block of rooms at one hotel would be a good plan.

Cool. I should actually get the contract tomorrow afternoon. I’ll maybe add another couple of rooms to it. I got a very good deal at a great location lined up. I’ll email out details when I get the group code.

Welp, I think we might have found an HI on the other side of the planet (about ten miles) that still has smoking rooms, but at this point, we aren’t even sure if we’re going to go. I hate being discriminated against over faulty science. grrrrrr
