Blogger & Reader Banquet Seating

glennbeck.jpgIn addition to enjoying Glenn Beck’s surely entertaining speech during the Annual Banquet, you are invited to join other bloggers and readers for dinner with reserved seating.

Those who want to enjoy the full scope of the Annual Banquet can join their favorite fellow bloggers and readers for dinner. Though tickets may now be purchased through the NRA Annual Meeting website, if you’d like to join the Blog Bash attendees, please wait a short time. We’re currently working with the NRA to accommodate the reserved seating request. As soon as we have details, we will let you know.

Dinner tickets will be available for $65. Blog Bash bloggers who would just like to cover the speaker without being seated for dinner may do so with their media credentials.

I’m interested in the rubber-chicken dinner. Let me know when the reserved seating request becomes available!

    Sounds like a plan!

Heh. They’ve actually had a pretty good meal the last several years. It’s not 5-star, but better than most banquet food I’ve had. For a meal prepared for a few thousand people, it definitely qualifies as more than decent.

Of course, should the Louisville caterers not be of the same caliber as those in St. Louis & Milwaukee, we’ll pretend I didn’t say this. :)

  4. Rustmeister Says:

Jeans and t-shirts, or something more civilized? =)

  5. Bitter Says:

It tends to be business/business casual. The head table wears formal, but the crowd usually goes for the previous options.

  6. Ahab Says:

The banquet chicken joke never gets old, Bitter. A convention war-horse like yourself should know that.

Of course, you know I’m in for dinner. So is my wife, despite any false protestations to the otherwise that she might make, she’s actually looking forward to this.

  7. Bitter Says:

Oh I know the joke, and I don’t mind it. I just thought I’d throw out there that this is actually a bit of a change.

Of course, notice that I didn’t list Pittsburgh. Because of the whole Cheney security fiasco, they didn’t allow the catering staff to set up or prep their dishes. I think we saw the first dinners coming out to the tables around 10pm. I know my table was ready to bust into the kitchen by the time we got our meals. So for all I know, there was a real rubber chicken served that night since I was so starved, I’d eat just about anything.

That’s the benefit to a speaker like Glenn Beck - I doubt he has the Secret Service holding the kitchen staff in an undisclosed location. :)

The steak at the 2005 banquet in Houston was very, very good, and definitely better than what one would expect at a banquet. Not to mention, Tom Delay was followed by Hank Williams, Jr. for two hours. Half of the concert time was with no band - just Hank, Jr., his acoustic guitar, and associated microphones. That was a blast.

Here’s hoping that Glenn is a blast.

  9. JR Says:

Add V and I to the list of folks on the “reserved seating request”.

Me too. I was just about to order tickets when I saw this.
