Second Amendment Blog Bash

More Updates Coming Soon!

There’s so much to say about the upcoming NRA meetings now that we’re officially in 2008.  I’ll have more details and an update in the coming week.  For those of you who have recently submitted a note that you’re interested in joining us, thank you, and I’ll get you added soon!

We’re going to have a blast in Louisville, and there’s still plenty of time to make up your mind to come out and join us!

I will remind you all again that once NRA starts advertising the meeting in their magazine, hotel rooms will likely go fast.  You can reserve now and cancel later, but you can’t reserve one once they are sold out at the discounted rates.

I gave my wife an NRA membership in 2007 for Christmas. She and the rest of us need to work hard to ensure we end up with a second amendment friendly candidate as president. I know there are a lot of Ron Paul supporters out there — thats fine.

I am supporting Fred Thompson. In the end what is important is that we don’t end up with someone like Hillary or even Rudy/Mitt as president. I am still not sure about Huckabee. I really see him folding on guns given the right circumstances of a heart string pulling issue.

A fear a sudden lurch to the left coming and another wave of gun registration/confiscation laws coming like we haven’t seen since the 70s.

I won’t be able to make it down to Louisville this year (at least not for the meeting). Are you going to be doing live blogging from the meeting?

This isn’t a forum for any particular presidential candidate. I only featured presidential debate questions because they were about guns and from cities where this event and future events will be held.

As far as I know, there will be liveblogging capability.

I realize there are several choices for hotels in Louisville, but I’m interested in which one the bloggers are going to concentrate at. (I assume we’re intending to do that.) So, where’s everybody staying? I need to make room reservations.

Keith and I are staying at the Executive Inn - the $99/night hotel that’s across from the parking lot of the Expo center. We chose there because a) it’s cheaper, and b) it also at least gives us the option of walking. Of those who have said anything, several seem to be opting for that hotel just to save a few bucks and be close by.

Typically, when a city is set up so there aren’t many hotels around the event site, NRA runs shuttles from all of the hotels throughout the day. I just don’t like having to rely on that or a car. I may well use the shuttle and/or a car, but I just like having options. :)

I was going to announce plans to set up a more detailed form for people who are definitely coming as I get closer to figuring out some events where I’ll need an approximate headcount. One of the questions I was going to ask was where people choose to stay so I could put together a hotel list of bloggers.
