Plenty to Keep You Entertained and Informed
The NRA Annual Meeting has plenty to offer anyone with interest in the shooting sports, Second Amendment activism, and politics. We will have events just for bloggers which will be determined at a later date. If that’s not enough, the city of Louisville offers plenty of activities to keep you and guests busy outside of the Expo Center.

Schedule Highlights
Though it’s still months away, here are a few highlights guaranteed to interest any blogger:

  • An exhibit hall with hundreds of thousands of square feet featuring the best guns, gear, collectibles, and hunting opportunities.
  • A grassroots workshop discussing how to take on a more active role in protecting freedom. They provide materials and strategies needed to educate and empower fellow gun owners.
  • The Annual Meeting of Members, a massive gathering for NRA members to hear the reports of the officers and vote on organization business.
  • Join other gun bloggers for the Annual Banquet. In 2007, Ambassador John Bolton addressed the St. Louis meeting, preceded by General Tommy Franks in Milwaukee, Majority Leader Tom Delay in Houston, and Vice President Dick Cheney in Pittsburgh.

  1. Hmmm, I may be there. I was born in Louisville and spent my early childhood just outside the city, and lived and worked there through the first half of the 80s. It’s an excuse to stay at the Brown and eat hot browns, and see people I haven’t seen in over ten years. Can’t commit yet, though. Bad timing (finals week and all that).

  2. I know the distance for the Executive West says six blocks, but the hotel is right at the front gate of the fairgrounds. It’s a pretty good walk to the exhibition halls.

Parking at the Fairgrounds is $5/day. Food and beverages inside are HIGH. However, I recommend the porkchop sandwiches at the Pork Producers Kiosks.

If your looking for less exspensive and don’t mind a little driving, look South on I-65

10 miles south of Fairgrounds on I-65 and Brooks Rd.
    Comfort Inn $70/night (502) 957-6900
    Quality Inn and Suites $70/night (502) 955-6272
    Hampton Inn $99/night (502) 957-5050

Group rates may be available. It would take several to commit to one location.

These are just the first three that come up. There’s a Holiday Inn Express just opened up there. The “more results” link brings up several more. Be sure to check a map for location. The entire area, including Brooks may be considered Shepherdsville.

    google: hotels Brooks KY

Not as convenient as staying by the fairgrounds, byt $30/night less expensive buys some inconvenience. Straight shot up the interstate takes 15-30 minutes (rush hours) Shepherdsville proper is about 10 more miles.
